Banks

Italian banks are gradually joining the world of the Internet and making it possible for their clients to do their banking online. We will list such banks as we learn about them. For the moment they tend to be the smaller banks, as most of the larger state-owned banks have been slower to move into the brave new world. One thing holding back E-commerce in Italy is the difficulty in being able to accept credit cards online. One of the first banks in Italy to meet their customer's demands was the Banca Sella.

Cariplo

Mediocredito Centrale - Mediosim
Mediocredito Centrale recently became part of the Banco di Roma and offers banking services with Mediosim. http://www.mediosim.it
Monte dei Paschi di Siena
Monte dei Paschi di Siena, founded in 1452, claims to be the oldest bank in the world. http://www.mps.it

We@bank was created by the Banca Popolare di Milano for customers to manage their checcking accounts, pay bill, buy stocks and do other things online. Quotations and financial news are furnished by two of the bank's companies, Banca Akros, an investment bank, and Bipiemme Gestoni SGR, which offers mutual funds and specializes in estate planning and investment. http://www.webank.it
